First Responder Recognition Dinner
We had a wonderful evening hosting Miss Colorado Job’s Daughter, Julia H., and Band Camp Scholarship recipient, Sam H. We were also honored to recognize the First Responders of the Year, chosen by their respective leaders in Gilpin County: Paramedic Christian Gay from Gilpin Ambulance Authority, Lt. Kevin Schneider from Timberline Fire Protection District, and Sgt. Stephen Mathews from Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office.

Please join us for en evening of fellowship at the Ghost Town Lodge. Your RSVP will ensure that you have a seat and something to eat!
The topic of the toasts will be Masons of the Old West. The dress code is jacket and tie. Wine and non-alcoholic options will be served for the toasts. The menu is scheduled to be chicken and andouille gumbo with rice. Reach out well in advance if you have dietary requirements and we will do what we can to accommodate.
Masons of any degree are welcome. The event and dinner are presented at no cost (donations are welcome). There will be Cannons for sale for those who want a nice souvenir.
As much as we hope no one drinks to intemperance, you are invited to bring a sleeping bag or find a room nearby in Central City/Black Hawk.

Stranahan’s Visit
A great time was had touring Stranahan's distillery.
Storeroom Conversion Project

- This image was shot in September when we had a work party to clear our store room in preparation to develop an additional dining area.

- We got an early start at 10:30 am. We had four of our Temple Board members working on the construction or should I say, the demolition crew. John Crow, Craig Vote, Weston Nagel and myself, Jim Weekes.

- Here are some images of John, Craig and Weston removing the floor planking. It turned out to be quite a day. After removing about half of the flooring, we determined that we would make a move to support and reinforce the existing joists before we lay down the new sub-flooring. That will create a floor that will outlast the original…

- You can imagine the amount of dust and history that we brought to life after we started our work. The joists are massive and will be used to support the new floor. The tongue and groove planks were dry and in great shape, with the exception of the wear and tear that the planks showed after all those years of use from 1879.

- Here is a close view of the existing floor. As a soft pine wood, the many knots from the branches that were cut during milling survived the wear on the floor better than the softer portions of the planks. That resulted in a hump or protrusion everywhere there was a knot. The wood under John’s feet will show you how thick the planks were and how they were joined together with the tongue and groove technique, then nailed to the multiple joists.
