Coronavirus & Nevada Lodge State Communication

Coronavirus & Nevada Lodge State Communication

Brethren,
We have received several messages and emails this last week concerning the coronavirus and whether or not Lodge this Saturday will be cancelled. We know several lodges have cancelled their meetings and others have not. The Scottish Rite has cancelled their regular events for the rest of the month. Schools are closing and offices are admonishing their employees to work from home as a precaution. However, the Grand Lodge of Colorado has not issued a statement on the coronavirus, so it is up to the lodges themselves to determine what they want to do at this time. But be prepared, in the event the epidemic gets worse, to see Lodge cancellations.

At this time, seeing that the disease is still fairly new in Colorado and has not been spreading here as quickly as elsewhere, the Worshipful Master will not be cancelling Lodge. We will still be meeting in Idaho Springs this Saturday. That said, please be cautious and use some reasoning in your future plans. If you are sick, do not come to Lodge. If you are worried that attending Lodge may be unsafe, the Lodge respects your decision in protecting your personal well-being. The Worshipful Master plans on discussing this epidemic in Lodge, have some contingency plans, and consider what is best for the members and the Lodge.

Please follow updates from the CDC to make informed decisions. Wash your hands regularly; be cautious in large crowds or avoid them if possible; avoid touching your mouth, nose, and eyes; and monitor your symptoms. Please know the difference between symptoms of coronavirus, flu, and allergies. Please respect another brother's personal space and do not be offended if they do not want to shake hands. Did we mention to wash your hands? Wash your hands!

We are fortunate that this time of year is more planning time for the Lodge, as our big events are in the summer. We hope everyone stays safe and stays healthy. Si vale tum valeo.

Fraternally,
David Hoffman, Worshipful Master
Patrick M. Dey, Secretary

CANCELED – February Communication

February Communication

Greetings brothers,

Unfortunately, we are cancelling our stated communication in Idaho Springs tomorrow, Saturday the 8th.

We banked on Saturday being warm and sunny to melt the snow on the highways and give us all easy access to lodge. However, the snow accumulation is more than expected and I doubt that the roads will completely clear by then.

Additionally, many of our members have family engagements or other scheduling conflicts tomorrow, which would have left us with a smaller crew to conduct business. That business would mostly entail planning, and I think it would be better served with more brothers. Fortunately, that can easily be postponed to the next meeting.

I value your safety and your time. Therefore, we will have our next stated on March 14th. Expect to see some emails from me in regards to a work party in the interim.

December Communication – FC Degree & Installation

December Communication - FC Degree & Installation

Brethren,

We had planned on doing this meeting at Aurora Lodge, but due to scheduling conflicts we had to move this to the Welton Street Temple (1614 Welton St., 5th Floor). We will be conferring the Fellow Craft Degree at 3:00 PM and we will hold a brief business meeting to wrap up any unfinished business of the year starting at 4:30 PM. Dinner will be at the usual 5:30 PM in the small dining room (4th Floor), and installation of 2020 officers will be at 6:30 PM (5th Floor). Friends and family are welcome to attend the dinner and installation.

Official Visit – Centennial Lodge #4

Official Visit - Centennial Lodge #4

Brethren, last year we made a visit to a Prince Hall lodge, and it would be nice if we could do that again. Since we are Lodge #4, we will go visit Centennial Lodge #4 at the Masonic Cultural Center (650 Billings St). For those who are unfamiliar with Prince Hall lodges, they are very formal and punctual, so if you would like to attend, please wear a suit and tie, and please be on time. They usually have refreshments after Lodge. Hope to see many of you there.

Ghost Town II – Cancelled

We originally intended to hold our second Ghost Town Raising this day, which would have been another long day of Master Mason Degrees. However, all lodges that were slated to participate either no longer have a candidate or their candidate is not ready / proficient. Thus, Ghost Town II is cancelled.

We will hold a standard meeting of business and education. Dinner will be at 5:30 PM and the gavel drops at 6:30 PM. There will be a work party earlier in the day from 10 AM until dinner time.

Annual Pancake Breakfast, July 14th

Please join us for our annual Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, July 14th. Doors open at 8:00 AM and concludes when we run out of food. Like last year, food will be served to order. All proceeds go to remodeling our kitchen and maintaining the building. Please come and see all the hard work we continue to do on and around the building. Your kind donations have been put to good use!

Please try to attend the service to support his family.

Spring Cleanup

Brethren of Nevada No. 4,

I would like to invite you to participate in our annual spring clean up in Nevadaville.  We will be installing some new furniture, cleaning the deck, tables and chairs in the dining area, cleaning the upstairs and downstairs bathrooms, cleaning the Lodge Room windows, dusting and vacuuming and cleaning the windows in the dining area and the storage room area, along with the doors and transoms.

We will be cleaning the kitchen area and moving our cups and dishes out into the new cabinets in the dining room from their current storage cabinets in the kitchen.

We will also need help clearing the upstairs ladies bathroom of raw materials and tools, so we can re-start our build out.  Beyond that, Brother Chris Vote is finishing the installation of the security bars on the front of the Lodge Bldg, Brother Billy Benyak will be installing the new furniture and wrapping up the installation of our new security system and Brother Weston Nagel and I will be finishing off the new prep rooms.

There is so much to be accomplished in preparation for the visit of the Grand Master during our Stated Communication on April 13th.  The more hands we have on board, the easier and faster we can get our prep work completed.

Please note that Brother Billy Benyak will be grilling burgers and serving a great lunch to keep us all nourished.  Good food and great fellowship, what more can a guy ask for?

Please plan to arrive between 9:00 am and 10:00 am.  We will have a project list on the wall in the kitchen, so that you can pick a task that you are comfortable with.  Please feel free to call me if you have any questions of if you would like to discuss what we we will be working on.  I would like to get right to work as Lodge members arrive, so that we do not burn daylight…

District Lecturer Workshop

For those brethren who are interested, there will be a District Lecturer workshop presented by WB Joe Magoffin on Saturday, January 5th at 210 17th Ave, Idaho Springs, CO 80452. A number of brothers are going to meet for breakfast at Marion’s of the Rockies (2805 Colorado Blvd) at 8:00am, and then head over to the Temple at 9:00am. The workshop should only last for 2 – 2 1/2 hours.
